National Weather Service Adds Snow Risk For Next Week

The National Weather Service (NWS) has included most of Maryland and Northern Virginia in a ‘limited snow risk’ for Wednesday/Wednesday night, as the potential for another winter storm looms for the area.

The ‘limited snow risk’ means “Light snow and/or sleet accumulation will result in locally hazardous travel conditions, especially on bridges, overpasses, and untreated or secondary roads.” Due to how far out this is, the risk usually does not surpass the “limited” category.

FOX5 meteorologist Mike Thomas shared the following on next week’s potential storm, “Hard to hate the signal on the European Ensemble this afternoon. But the devil is in the details and those will take several more days to work out. System is still a week out there!”

The NWS forecaster’s discussion states, “The next chance for precipitation will be Wednesday into Thursday when a coastal low may [enter] the region with wintry precipitation possible.”

We are still almost a week out with a lot that can change. We’ll continue to monitor and provide updates as they become available.
