One Person Rescued and Hospitalized with Life-Threatening Injuries Following Early Morning Fire

Approximately 50 firefighters responded to a fire on Oak Ave:, off of Montgomery Ave. and near Frederick Rd. (355) in Gaithersburg around 1:30am Sunday morning.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Chief spokesperson Pete Piringer stated that firefighters located and rescued one adult male from the one-story single family home who was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

In a 7:15am update this morning, Piringer wrote that the fire began in the first floor kitchen, likely in/around the baseboard heater, eventually igniting other nearby combustibles. No smoke alarm was evident and damage is estimated to be around $400k overall, including $300K structure/$100K contents.
