Winter Storm Watch for St. Mary’s County as Projected Snow Totals Decrease Across The Rest of Maryland

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch for St. Mary’s County in southern Maryland from 10am Wednesday morning until early Thursday morning, but projected snow totals have decreased for the rest of the state.

The storm, which has consistently moved further out to sea since model runs on Friday had it bringing big snows to the area, will likely not bring much of anything to the DC Metro area. The ‘Expected Snowfall’ map shows less than an inch for most of the area.

The ‘High End Amount’ map shown below, has 1-4 inches for the DC Metro area, but that only has a 10% chance of occurring according to the NWS. The ‘Low End Amount’ map shows no snow for almost the entire state. The Watch area in St. Mary’s County is for the potential of 5 inches or more, but that is not expected to make it further north at this time.

We’ll continue to monitor for any possible changes that may change projected amounts for the area.
