Winter Weather Advisories Expand Across Portions of Southern MD and Central VA

The National Weather Service (NWS) has shared that Winter Weather Advisories have been expanded across portions of central VA and southern MD from 1pm Wednesday until 10pm. Further north, including our area, lighter amounts are possible.

Based on the ‘Expected Snowfall’ map (available below), most of the area is expected to get less than announce with an inch expected for the southern portion of Prince George’s County and other areas south. The ‘High End’ amount map (also available below) shows 2-3 inches of snow for our area– there’s a 10% chance of that occurring.

While this storm started moving further off the coast on Saturday, one model (NAM) is showing moderate snow reaching the area. It’s on its own, with most models showing barely any snow for us, so it’s very unlikely it will happen…but that’s why the NWS has the high end possibility.
