Germantown

First Look at Dumpling District; Now Open

Dumpling District is currently in a soft opening phase at 19775 Frederick Rd in Germantown’s Fox Chapel Shopping Center. The restaurant has opened in the space that was most recently home to Bonchon and will be open from 11am until 10pm daily. A first look video and the menu available below.

Dumpling District has seven locations across the DMV with more coming soon. Currently, the restaurant’s only Montgomery County location is in Wheaton (12009 Georgia Ave. inside of Luna Hall), but additional restaurants are planned for Rockville (in the upcoming Luna Hall) and a currently undisclosed location in Bethesda. The Germantown location is a full-service location and offers table service as well as takeout.

The restaurant’s standout offering is the Rainbow Soup Dumplings, featuring a vibrant assortment of six freshly made dumplings, each bursting with unique flavors: classic pork, spicy mala pork, crab and pork, chicken, shrimp with zucchini, and pork infused with black truffle.

Beyond its celebrated dumplings, the restaurant offers an enticing array of Shanghai-style dim sum that caters to a variety of tastes. Diners can indulge in sticky bottom buns, which are pan-fried to achieve a crispy exterior while remaining fluffy on top. The menu also features classic dishes like braised beef noodle soup and scallion oil tossed noodles. For those seeking lighter fare, the cucumber salad serves, wontons in spicy peanut sauce, spring rolls, siu mai, and scallion pancakes, are also offered.

“At Dumpling District, we take pride in making quality soup dumplings more accessible than ever before. Nestled in your neighborhood, we’re dedicated to serving as your go-to spot for an authentic dim sum experience. These delicacies have captured the hearts of Chinese diners for centuries, symbolizing the essence of Shanghainese cuisine. It’s our joy to bring these memorable flavors from Shanghai to your doorstep, blending tradition with modern convenience to make these culinary gems available to everyone, without compromising on quality.”
