First-Ever Buy Buy Baby Location Will Close Permanently on Tuesday

Last October, Buy Buy Baby announced that it will be closing all existing stores and transforming into a digital-first brand “focusing all our energy on providing an exceptional online shopping experience.” The last day for its Rockville location (1683 Rockville Pike), which is the first location to ever open, will be Tuesday, February 25th, an employee confirmed this morning.

The store was initially supposed to close permanently by the end of 2024, but remained open a bit longer. The employee we spoke with today shared that some furniture and strollers remain for sale as the store prepares to close permanently Tuesday.

On its website, Buy Buy Baby explains that “this decision comes after listening closely to you, our incredible customers, and our valued partners. Your feedback has been invaluable in shaping this new chapter.” Buy Buy Baby initially closed all of its stores in 2023.

In July, a New Jersey-based company known as Dream on Me, that previously purchased Buy Buy Baby’s brand and digital assets for $15.5 million, was the successful bidder for 11 store leases at a bankruptcy auction for about $1.17 million. The sole Montgomery County location, at 1683 Rockville Pike in Congressional Plaza, was included as one of 11 stores and reopened on Saturday, November 18th, 2023.
