Chief Antonio DeVaul of the Takoma Park Police Department has announced that there are vacancies on the Police Chief’s Advisory Board for individuals aged 16 to 21.
Per Takoma Park Police, the Chief’s Advisory Board serves as a bridge between the police department and the public, providing a forum to discuss community concerns, public safety initiatives, and department policies. By inviting young people to join, the department hopes to foster meaningful dialogue, gain insight into the issues affecting youth, and strengthen trust between officers and the next generation.
The Board meets on the third Monday of each month at 7 PM(currently they are held in person and via Zoom). For information about the Board and its current members, please visit: https://takomaparkmd.gov/1582/Police-Chiefs-Advisory-Board.
“We want to hear directly from our young residents—their ideas, concerns, and solutions. Engaging with youth helps us better understand their challenges and ensures that we’re building a safer, more inclusive community together.
Youth members will have the opportunity to work alongside city leaders, share their experiences, and help shape initiatives that impact them and their peers.
If you are interested in joining the Chief’s Advisory Board, please submit a letter of interest to Cathy Plevy at [email protected] or mail it to Chief Antonio DeVaul, 7500 Maple Avenue, Takoma Park, MD 20912. All applicants will have the opportunity to interview with the Chief of Police and a current Board member as part of the selection process.”
