Top Three ‘Most Diverse Cities in America’ Can Be Found in Maryland, Per Report

The personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2025’s Most Diverse Cities in America, with the top three cities/areas in the entire country being right here in Montgomery County, Maryland.

To identify the cities in the U.S. with the most mixed demographics, WalletHub analyzed the profiles of over 500 of the largest cities across five key diversity categories: socioeconomic, cultural, economic, household, and religious. Earlier this month, WalletHub released its report on 2025’s Most & Least Ethnically Diverse Cities, and four of the top ten “most ethnically diverse” cities/areas were in Montgomery County, Maryland. That report focused on three metrics: ethno-racial diversity, linguistic diversity, and birthplace diversity.

Rockville came in ranked 16th overall, with a #9 ranking in linguistic diversity. Germantown was ranked #3 in the country, with its highest ranking being first in the Cultural Diversity subcategory. Silver Spring was ranked #2 in the country, with its highest rankings being fourth in the Cultural Diversity subcategory and eleventh in the Socioeconomic Diversity. Gaithersburg ranked #1 overall.

Nearby Washington DC came in ranked 54th and the next Maryland cities to make the list were Frederick (Frederick County, 128th) and Columbia (Howard County, 133rd). For the full report, please visit:
