Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a house fire in the 5000 block of Aurora Drive in Kensington on Friday. Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames in the basement, with reports of a person trapped inside.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, firefighters rescued an unconscious adult male from the basement, who was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. MCFRS confirmed on Saturday, March 1, that he has died. Another occupant was also evacuated and transported with non-life-threatening injuries, while a third person self-rescued. Several dogs were also saved.
More than 65 firefighters responded to the incident, and the fire has since been extinguished.
