House Fire Causes $550K in Damage, Resident Injured Trying to Extinguish Flames

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a house fire around 10:15 PM on Tuesday night on Billington Rd in Colesville.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the fire started on an enclosed porch, likely due to an electrical malfunction near a ceiling fan. The fire spread, causing significant damage ($550K). Over 60 firefighters responded to the scene.

One adult male was injured while trying to fight the fire with a garden hose and was transported to a burn unit. Two residents were displaced, but no firefighter injuries were reported.
