A $50,000 winning Powerball lottery ticket was sold on April 6 at 7-Eleven (13401 New Hampshire Ave) in Colesville. The ticket remains unclaimed as of of April 8. The $1.3 billion jackpot winning ticket was purchased in Oregon.

U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis sentenced MS-13 member Kevin Alexander Castillo Calderon, a/k/a “Fantasma,” “Ghost,” “Eterno,” and “Josue Argueta Gonzalez,” age 25, of Adelphi and Colesville Maryland, to 26 years in federal prison, followed by X years (unsure of meaning, per U.S. State’s Attorney) of supervised release, for a racketeering conspiracy, including a murder, connected to his participation in La Mara Salvatrucha, a transnational criminal enterprise also known as MS-13.

Per Montgomery County: “The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is beginning a $4.6 million safety and resurfacing project this week along MD 650 (New Hampshire Avenue) from Milestone Drive to Shaw Avenue in Montgomery County. Weather permitting, the 1.75-mile project is expected to be complete by fall.

This past summer we let you know that Kats Kitchen and Company is coming to 12854 New Hampshire Ave in Colesville, previously the home of Dominic’s Italian Grille– Dominic’s closed permanently in January. The restaurant is now open for business as of Friday, December 15th.
