Maryland Man Arrested for Murder and Child Abuse in Infant’s Death

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has arrested and charged 36-year-old Terron Christopher Matasaran of Bladensburg, MD with second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse in connection with the death of a 7-month-old infant. The arrest follows an autopsy ruling the infant’s death as a homicide, with investigators determining the child suffered a head injury and rib fractures while under Matasaran’s care.

According to MCPD, “On Monday, September 23, 2024, at approximately 11:05 a.m., officers from the 3rd District, along with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services, responded to the 11600 block of Stewart Lane (Silver Spring) for the report of an unresponsive baby boy.

Matasaran, a friend of the family who had been babysitting the child, reported that the infant had allegedly fallen. He called the child’s mother, who was at work, and she returned home to find her baby unresponsive. The mother called 9-1-1 and began CPR until first responders arrived. The infant was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the infant was found to have suffered a head injury and rib fractures. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

On Monday, March 3, 2025, homicide detectives requested and obtained a warrant for Matasaran’s arrest. On March 4, officers from the Montgomery County Police Task Force, along with the U.S. Marshals Capital Regional Fugitive Task Force, arrested Matasaran at his place of employment in Bladensburg. He is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.”
