The Hometown Holidays festival will return to Rockville Town Center in May, featuring two days of local entertainment, food, shopping, and community activities, followed by the city’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade.
The festival, returning to its original location for the first time since 2019, will have a local, community-based focus with live music, artisan vendors, children’s activities, and food from local restaurants, while the Memorial Day Parade on May 26 will showcase over 60 groups celebrating the theme “Magic in America.”
Last year, Everclear headlined the event on Sunday and packed the park with hundreds of residents who poured in to catch a performance by alternative rock band. While the event was considered a success, many residents shared the sentiment of wanting it to return to Rockville Town Center.
Per the City of Rockville: “The City of Rockville’s annual Hometown Holidays festival returns to Rockville Town Center in May with two days of local entertainment, food and shopping followed by the city’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade.
In its 37th year, the community celebration returns to Rockville Town Center for the first time since 2019 — but with a different look than yesteryear. This year’s festival will offer a more local, community-based focus and will encourage festivalgoers to join their neighbors and show their Rockville spirit.
Hometown Holidays at Rockville Town Center will feature two stages of entertainment for all ages and music from a variety of genres, including rock, pop, country, bluegrass, blues and more. Food and beverages from local restaurants and vendors will be available for purchase, including local flavor from around the world with a preview of this summer’s Explore Rockville Global Bites campaign. A new shopping area will feature a variety of local artisans. Kids activities will include yard games, crafts and kid-friendly performances. Outreach booths will connect attendees with festival sponsors, community groups and city services.
The location in the city center offers many ways to get to the festival, including via Metrobus and Metrorail, Ride On, rideshare, biking or walking. Free and paid parking lots will be available.
The Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade, a city tradition for 81 years featuring more than 60 dance, marching and community groups from around the region, will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, May 26 in Rockville Town Center. This year’s parade theme is “Magic in America.”
