A vehicle collision in Gaithersburg resulted in significant structural damage and the displacement of multiple residents. The incident occurred at the intersection of School Drive and Story Drive, near Muddy Branch Road in Shady Grove Village.
According to Pete Piringer, the Chief spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS), units were dispatched to the scene following reports of a vehicle veering off the roadway and crashing into a building. The responding units included Ambulance 732, Paramedic Engine 732, Special Assignment 700, and Battalion Chief 703.
Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered that the vehicle had traversed through a load-bearing wall, causing extensive damage to the structure. The impact affected three apartments, leading to the displacement of a total of eleven occupants.
Due to the structural damage, a building inspector was notified to assess the integrity of the affected building and determine the necessary repairs. The displaced residents are currently receiving assistance as they arrange temporary accommodations.
