A late-night altercation in the 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, VA resulted in multiple arrests and charges against three individuals from Germantown, MD on March 10. Arlington police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:52 a.m. after receiving reports of a fight inside a business.
According to Arlington Police, upon arrival officers encountered a large crowd in the stairwell of the establishment, where two individuals were engaged in a physical confrontation. As the officers attempted to separate the combatants, one of them—identified as Yancy Alvarado, 23, of Germantown—allegedly struck an officer several times and actively resisted arrest. Additional officers were called to the scene to assist in subduing Alvarado, who was taken into custody following the struggle.
During a search conducted in connection with the arrest, officers recovered suspected narcotics. Alvarado now faces charges, including Assault on Police, Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance, and Public Intoxication. He is currently being held without bond.
In the midst of the chaos, another individual, Franklin Medina, 31, also of Germantown, attempted to intervene in Alvarado’s arrest. He was taken into custody and charged with Obstruction of Justice and Public Intoxication. A third individual, identified as Maya Herman, 22, also from Germantown, was arrested for Public Intoxication after displaying disorderly behavior at the scene.
