The Seneca Valley and Northwest High School communities are mourning the sudden loss of Dominique Perry– a paraeducator and football coach at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown who graduated from nearby Northwest High School in Germantown in 2020.
Seneca Valley High School principal Ricardo Hernandez sent the following letter to the community today:
“Dear Seneca Valley Community,
It is with a very heavy heart that I am writing to share some difficult news that has impacted our school community. Last night, we learned of the sudden death of Mr. Dominique Perry. Mr. Perry has served our students as a paraeducator and as a football coach at Seneca Valley High School.
Mr.Perry joined our Seneca Valley community this school year and very quickly made an impact as educator, coach, and mentor to our students.
Mr. Perry was a lifelong resident of Germantown and a 2020 Northwest High School graduate. He worked to positively influence both the Northwest and Seneca Valley communities. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.
We will provide onsite support and counseling to students and staff today (March 13) and tomorrow (March 14) with a team of psychologists, counselors, and social workers from Montgomery County Public Schools. If students need support at any time, they should report to our school counseling office.
With such loss, your child may come home with questions, concerns and anxiety. Please find resources attached to this letter that can help with discussions you might have with your child regarding Mr. Perry’s death. You may also contact the school if you have any concerns you would like to discuss.
When funeral arrangements are announced, I will share the information with you. Please join me in offering condolences and sympathy to Mr. Perry and his family.”
