Dacha Beer Garden to Open New Location at Former Denizens Brewery Site

Dacha Beer Garden is coming to 1115 East-West Highway in Silver Spring, taking over the former site of Denizens Brewery. Denizens, which opened in the space in June 2014, closed its Silver Spring location in October 2023, with owner Julie Verrati stating, “Our ten-year lease has come to an end, and that’s the end of an era for us. It’s been an incredible ten years in Silver Spring, and we’re so grateful for the community here…” Denizens can still be found at 4550 Van Buren St in Riverdale Park, MD.

The news of Dacha’s Silver Spring location was first reported by Source of the Spring, and later confirmed by Bethesda Magazine. Dacha has a liquor license hearing scheduled with the Montgomery County ABS on April 10.

In addition to over two dozen draft beers, Dacha’s menu features a variety of small plates, shareable items, burgers, salads, and mains, including options like crispy Brussels sprouts, bratwurst, currywurst, pulled pork sliders, and seafood tacos.

According to Dacha, founders Dmitri and Ilya opened the original Dacha Beer Garden in 2013 after losing their corporate jobs during the Great Recession, turning a small parking lot in Shaw into a thriving community space. Over the years, Dacha expanded with new ventures, including Dacha Café, Dacha Loft, Dacha Navy Yard, and Jackie, all while honoring the Shaw neighborhood’s history with its iconic Liz Taylor mural, a tribute to her AIDS advocacy.
