Local Second Grader Harrison Robbs Honored for Outstanding Achievement in Gifted Education

Harrison Robbs, second grader at Burtonsville Elementary School, has achieved recognition for his exceptional academic performance by receiving the Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education (EGATE) Outstanding Student Accomplishment in Gifted & Talented Education award for Primary Grades K-2.

This prestigious honor was presented to Harrison last month during an EGATE awards ceremony held in Severn, Maryland. MCPS shared that Harrison’s passion for learning is evident in his academic pursuits, particularly in mathematics, where he has consistently demonstrated outstanding performance. His enthusiasm for the subject has not only earned him accolades but has also inspired him to engage in various extracurricular programs that further nurture his talents.

Among his extracurricular activities, Harrison participates in Destination Imagination, a program that fosters creativity and problem-solving skills through collaborative projects. He is also a member of the Crazy 8s Math Club, where students explore math in fun and innovative ways. Additionally, Harrison is affiliated with the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, an organization that offers gifted students advanced educational opportunities and resources.
