Maryland Governor Shows Off Shooting Skills With Viral NBA Shooting Coach

Maryland Governor Wes Moore was recently spotted in the gym with viral shooting coach Chris Matthews, known as “Lethal Shooter.” Widely recognized as the world’s most sought-after shooting coach, Matthews has honed the skills of NBA and WNBA stars including Jaylen Brown, Grayson Allen, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. The viral video showing a clip of Moore shooting in the gym has gone viral, with over a million views in two days.

Before transitioning to coaching, Matthews played internationally in France, Russia, and China, following collegiate stints at St. Bonaventure and Washington State University, and his high school career at National Christian Academy in Maryland. Now a prominent digital influencer for youth, he collaborates with top brands such as Nike, NBA2K, Red Bull, PlayStation—and even Maryland Governor Wes Moore.

While his successful shooting reflects his basketball experience, it’s worth noting that Moore also spent two years as a wide receiver at Johns Hopkins University. In 2024, he also participated in a University of Maryland football practice in College Park, donning a Terrapins jersey and helmet, leading exercises, and taking part in drills.

Legendary swimmer and Maryland native Michael Phelps commented on the video, “I see you @govwesmoore! 💪 #md.” Podcast host and rapper Wallo added, “Gov got a shot! 🔥🔥🔥” Comedian and actor Mark Curry chimed in with, “🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I’m ready!” The governor himself thanked Matthews, saying he was getting “locked in.”
