Last month marked 23 years since Ganignunt “Felicia” Aiemsakul was last seen in the Gaithersburg/Laytonsville area in the early morning hours of March 4, 2002. The disappearance of the then 19-year-old remains a mystery, and authorities are still urging the public to come forward with any information that could help solve this cold case.
Ganignunt, known to her friends and family as Felicia, was last seen leaving her ex-boyfriend’s residence in the 8200 block of Goodhurst Drive in Laytonsville at approximately 2:00 a.m. Following an argument, her ex-boyfriend told police that she walked away from his house on foot. She never returned to her home on the 200 block of Tulip Drive in the Deer Park neighborhood of Gaithersburg and has not been heard from since.
At the time of her disappearance, Felicia was a student at the Rockville campus of Montgomery Community College and worked at the Red Lobster restaurant on Shady Grove Road. She was known to frequent a billiard parlor on Snouffer School Road in Gaithersburg and had friends in Virginia. Her family described her as a trusting and open individual who made friends easily. Notably, she was also known to hitchhike. Adding to the perplexing nature of her disappearance, there has been no activity on Felicia’s credit cards or cellular phone since March 2002, despite using them daily prior to that. This lack of any digital footprint further deepened the concern surrounding her well-being.
Over the years, the Montgomery County Police Department has continued to investigate Felicia’s disappearance. In the summer of 2021, they released an update stating that detectives had recently received a tip regarding the case and now believe that she is deceased. However, no further details about the tip have been publicly disclosed.
Felicia’s friends and family have not given up hope for answers. They created a Facebook page titled “Justice for Felicia Voices for Forgotten Victims” to keep her memory alive and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
The Montgomery County Police Department continues to urge anyone with information regarding Ganignunt “Felicia” Aiemsakul’s disappearance to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
