Buc-ee’s, the Texas-based travel center, is moving ahead with plans to build an additional Virginia location in Stafford County– considered to be in the Northern Virginia region (though some say on the outskirts), roughly 52 miles from Bethesda, MD. Buc-ee’s will open its first Virginia location this summer in Rockingham County, VA.
According to Potomac Local, the company has submitted formal requests to rezone nearly 35 acres of land, paving the way for a massive fuel and retail complex off I-95. The proposed Buc-ee’s would be situated near the intersection of Courthouse Road (Route 630) and Austin Ridge Drive, just east of I-95 Exit 140. The plans submitted to the county include a 74,000-square-foot convenience store and gas station featuring 120 fuel pumps and 24 future EV charging stations.
Despite widespread reports and shared posts on social media– especially Facebook– Buc-ee’s currently has no plans to open a Maryland location. An additional Virginia location is scheduled for the next couple of years in New Kent County at the exit 211 interchange along Interstate 64
The first Virginia store, coming this summer, will be located at the exit 240 interchange along Interstate 81 (located near Harrisonburg, VA)- over 125 miles and about two hours from most parts of Montgomery County, MD.
