Tato’s, a unique potato-centric dining experience, is preparing to open its doors at the Commas Food Hall in Ellsworth Place (8661 Colesville Rd., Downtown Silver Spring). This creative spot transforms a humble tuber into culinary art and provides guests with an interactive experience where they can design their own unique spud creation. It’s expected to open when Commas Food Hall opens later this spring.
At Tato’s, the menu is built around the versatility of potatoes. Guests can enjoy a classic selection of fries, wedges, or loaded potatoes, with an array of toppings to choose from. Options include proteins like bacon, pepperoni, pulled pork, steak, and chicken; an assortment of vegetables such as mushrooms, citrus, arugula, olives, and hummus; and an array of cheeses, including vegan mozzarela, mozzarela, manchego, and cheese sauce. Drizzle options such as ranch, marinara, buffalo guac dressing, green sauce, sour cream, or BBQ allow diners to tailor their meal to their liking.
As the concept’s philosophy explains, “tato’s is all about the spirit of camaraderie connecting our community with the best local farmers. Here, we take the humble tuber and transform it into culinary art. tato’s is a creative, interactive experience where you’re inspired to design a unique, one-of-a-kind spud.
It’s time to gather around the tato. We believe eating is a true act of love, especially when you’re sharing a meal with people you care about. This potato-centric concept quickly turns an arguably ordinary vegetable into a culinary obsession. Every bite is a delicious ode to this staple ingredient.
So, whether you call them spuds, tubers, tatos or po-ta-toes, tato’s celebrates connections, and the joy discovered through sharing and making memories around the average potato.”
