Suspect Kidnaps Woman at Gunpoint, Eventually Surrenders

The following is a brief summary of events from the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) regarding a kidnapping of an adult woman that occurred on the 10300 block of Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda.

Per MCPD: “On Friday, April 18, 2025, at approximately 2:33 p.m., Montgomery County Police officers responded to the location for a kidnapping.During the investigation, officers located the suspect driving a vehicle in the area and observed a female passenger inside.

Officers followed the suspect to the area of Rockledge Drive and I-270, where the female passenger jumped out of the vehicle. Officers spoke with the adult female victim, who confirmed that the suspect, an individual known to her, had kidnapped her at gunpoint.

Officers followed the suspect to the area of Old Georgetown Road and Beech Avenue, where he barricaded himself inside the vehicle and refused to exit. The Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded to the scene. Negotiators engaged with the suspect and successfully convinced him to surrender. The adult male suspect was taken into custody, and a firearm was recovered from the vehicle.

Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division is investigating this kidnapping. A news release will be distributed once additional information becomes available.”
