Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to an incident Tuesday morning at a vacant property on Frederick Road near Shawnee Lane in Clarksburg that has closed Rt. 355 in the area.
According to Chief spokesperson Pete Piringer, units including PE735, PE734, PE729, PRE709, PE722, AT735, PAT708, T923, RS729, A735, BC705, BC703, RS717, T731, A734, PE708, and EMS703 were dispatched. The initial report indicated that smoke was visible coming from the roof of the house.
An update from the scene revealed that the affected property, located on the 22700 block of Frederick Road, is a one-story single-family home believed to be abandoned. The structure had visible smoke emanating from the roof and attic area, with a fire noted on the first floor. In response, local authorities have blocked Rt355 near Shawnee Lane as a safety measure.
A traffic advisory has been issued for Clarksburg, MD, affecting Rt355/Frederick Road. The road is currently blocked or closed between Shawnee Lane and Foreman Boulevard, generally affecting the area between Springtown Road and Little Seneca Parkway near Clarksburg High School.
Residents in the vicinity are advised to avoid the area until further notice while emergency crews continue to manage the situation.
