Tom Sheahin Retires From Coaching With 495 Career Wins

Sherwood boys basketball coach Tom Sheahin announced his retirement after 34 years in the game. Last season, he helped lead the Warriors to a 25-2 record and an appearance in the Maryland State Championship game.

“After 34 years of being a Head Coach, I have decided to step down today. I leave with a career record of 495-201. I could not of done it without great Assistant Coaches and Great JV coaches. I have coached tremendous players who I can’t thank enough. Love Sherwood/Community.” Sheahin shared on social media.

A Gaithersburg native and a graduate of Seneca Valley High School in Germantown, Sheahin has also coached at Seneca Valley and Gaithersburg, among other institutions. In seven seasons as the boys’ coach at Seneca Valley, he led the Screamin’ Eagles to a 118-52 record and secured Maryland 3A West region titles in 2006 and 2009. Previously, he coached the girls’ team to a 77-45 record over four years.
