2-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Left in Hot Car

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) reports that a 2-year-old girl died after being left unattended in a hot car in the Wheaton-Glenmont area.

According to police, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at approximately 1:44 p.m., Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel and 4th District officers responded to a residence for a report of a child in a vehicle. First responders found the toddler unresponsive after being left in the car for several hours. She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The child was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an official determination of cause and manner of death. Police say the case remains under investigation but is not being treated as a homicide. According to ABC 7, investigators believe the accident was an accident involving a forgotten drop-off.
