Andy’s Pizza is opening a new location at 145 Commerce Square Place in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood, taking over the space formerly occupied by MOD Pizza, which closed in March 2024. A representative from Andy’s noted, “The opening is a long way off, so we do not even have a date at this time. We will make an announcement on our social media for our grand opening when the time comes.”
Known for its 72-hour cold-fermented dough baked in a New York deck oven, Andy’s Pizza offers a crisp crust, chewy interior, and a subtle sour flavor. The menu also includes salads, wings, fries, and more.
Owner Andy Brown, a Bethesda native, had been eyeing the area since beginning to expand the brand, which opened its Bethesda location in September 2023. Andy’s Pizza also has locations in Adams Morgan, NoMa, Navy Yard, and Shaw in Washington, D.C., along with several in Northern Virginia.
Andy’s is currently a finalist for “Fast Casual Restaurant of the Year” at the 2025 RAMMY Awards.
The Kentlands location will be Andy’s second in Montgomery County, following the Bethesda restaurant at 4600 East West Highway, which opened in the former Booeymonger space.
