The Clarksburg Super Seniors, a group of longtime friends who have been meeting regularly for 50 years, were honored in a special event celebrating their milestone anniversary.
What began as a simple gathering of seniors looking to get out of the house has evolved into five decades of camaraderie, cherished memories, and community service in Clarksburg.
Montgomery County Recreation organized the celebration, which is took place on Wednesday, May 14, at the Damascus Community Recreation Center. During the ceremony, the Super Seniors received a proclamation from Montgomery County, a Governor’s Citation from the State of Maryland, and official citations from both the Maryland General Assembly and Montgomery County Council.
Embracing their motto, “Life is great when you participate,” the Clarksburg Super Seniors have made a lasting impact on their community through consistent engagement and a shared commitment to giving back. The event featured speeches from local officials and guests, a musical performance, personalized gifts for the honorees, and a catered lunch to commemorate the occasion.
