The Gaithersburg Police Department (GPD) has arrested and charged a 65-year-old Gaithersburg man with robbery, second-degree assault, and home invasion in connection with a May 3 incident where a victim was assaulted and had groceries stolen from their garage.
According to police, “Detectives from the Gaithersburg Police Department – Investigative Section have arrested and charged 65-year-old Nicola Khalaf of Gaithersburg with robbery, second degree assault, and home invasion that occurred on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
At approximately 2:21 p.m., Gaithersburg Police officers responded to the 100 block of Chevy Chase Street in Gaithersburg for the report of a strong arm robbery that just occurred.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim went to the grocery store to purchase prescription medication and other miscellaneous items. Upon returning home and pulling into his garage, an unknown vehicle parked alongside the garage, blocking the victim inside. An unknown male suspect then exited the vehicle, entered the garage, grabbed the grocery bag, and physically assaulted the victim. The unknown suspect fled the scene with the victim’s groceries and the grocery bag.
During the course of the investigation, Nicola Khalaf was identified as the suspect. Nicola Khalaf was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is currently being held.”
