Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a house fire on Vandalia Drive in Rockville on Saturday, May 17.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, neighbors noticed smoke coming from an attic vent, called 911, and assisted the sole occupant in evacuating safely. The fire, caused by an electrical issue with a kitchen exhaust fan in the attic, resulted in $150,000 in damages; $100,000 to the structure, and $50,000 to contents. One adult has been displaced one adult and there were no injuries reported.
