New Restaurants Coming Soon to Westfield Wheaton Mall

Several new restaurants are opening soon at Westfield Wheaton Mall (11160 Veirs Mill Rd).

Five Guys has begun construction on a new location at Westfield Wheaton Mall, taking over the former Sydney’s Burgers space. The popular D.C.-area burger chain, known for its hand-formed burgers and fresh-cut fries cooked in peanut oil, operates more than 1,800 locations worldwide, including in Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Olney, Potomac, Rockville, and Silver Spring.

Popeyes is expected to reopen soon in the mall’s food court under new ownership, following a remodel that began in April 2024. The fast food chain also has locations throughout Montgomery County, including in Gaithersburg, Germantown, Olney, Rockville, Silver Spring, and Wheaton.

Pollo Campero will open soon in the space formerly occupied by Moe’s Southwest Grill. The Latin American chain offers fried and grilled chicken, empanadas, yuca, plantains, and flan. While no opening date has been announced, Pollo Campero already has locations in Bethesda (Montgomery Mall), Gaithersburg, Takoma Park, and Wheaton.

Burger King is also on the way, set to open in the former McDonald’s space, which closed in January.

FingerLicking SoulFood, a Jamaican-style restaurant that began as a food truck in Frederick County, is joining the food court lineup. Founded in 2015, the restaurant is known for soulful Southern dishes made with quality ingredients. Menu items include Jamaican-style oxtails, blackened salmon, fried catfish, jumbo fried shrimp, pork chops, chicken wings, and sandwiches—along with sides like butter beans, cornbread, mac and cheese, collard greens, green beans, and banana pudding. An opening date has not yet been announced, but updates will be shared as available.
