WMATA: “Metro welcomes the world, invites visitors to ride America’s Metro system to World Pride events”

Metro has announced that it “is ready to welcome the world to the Washington D.C. region for World Pride, which runs through June 8. The international event includes concerts, parades, parties, rallies, and more.”

Per WMATA: Metro can get customers to nearly every event during Pride and is ready to move large crowds. “Washington D.C. is a city of major international events and World Pride is no different,” said Metro General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Randy Clarke. “Metro is the best way to get around, and we are making it even easier with a new seamless way to pay for fares coming soon, our new MetroPulse app to help navigate the system, and increased service on World Pride’s closing weekend.”

Metro is also launching special wrapped train and buses, which will be out on the streets and rail on May 24. You can track their real-time location at wmata.com/live and clicking on “special edition.” The MetroAccess vehicle will be out in the coming days.

Customers using Metro for the first time can check out our new rider guide. Customers can also download our new MetroPulse app on the Apple App Store to use our Trip Planner feature, get real-time service information, and chat with customer service. The Android version of the app launch in the coming days.
