The northbound I-270 merge lanes from the local lanes to the main/express lanes between Shady Grove Road and I-370 are now permanently closed.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the Maryland State Highway Administration installed jersey barriers due to safety concerns, as the Shady Grove Road ramp to NB I-270 is transitioning to a metered ramp. Drivers should expect changes in traffic flow in the area.
