Gaithersburg Election Takes Place November 4

Gaithersburg residents will cast their ballots for Mayor and two City Council Members on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. All Council Members serve at-large. The terms of office for Mayor Jud Ashman and Council Members Lisa Henderson and Jim McNulty expire in November. The Mayor and City Council Members elected in 2025 will each serve a four-year term. Additional information per the City of Gaithersburg below:

Voter Registration: City residents who are registered to vote in Montgomery County are automatically registered to vote in City of Gaithersburg elections. Same-day voter registration is available for those choosing to vote in person. Those registering during Early Voting or on Election Day will be asked to show an approved form of identification and will cast a provisional ballot. The provisional ballot will be counted upon verification of the individual’s eligibility to vote. Mail-In Voting: The City of Gaithersburg will use a hybrid process that allows for mail-in or in-person voting. Starting September 5, all registered voters will begin receiving an application in the mail inviting them to apply for a mail-in ballot. Mail-in ballots can also be requested online. Voters with approved applications will receive their mail-in ballot starting on October 5. The ballots can be returned by mail or placed in any of seven secure ballot boxes that will be located throughout the City. Ballots must be postmarked or placed in the boxes by 8 p.m. on November 4.

In-Person and Early Voting:If you choose to vote in person, the Activity Center at Bohrer Park is the only polling place available during this election. The polling place will be open on Election Day, Tuesday, November 4, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Early Voting will take place at the Activity Center on Sunday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Candidate Packets: For those interested in running for City Council, Candidate Packets are available online or can be picked up at City Hall, 31 S. Summit Ave. Petitions and associated documents must be submitted electronically or returned to the City Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Candidates are required to attend the informational session on August 5, either virtually via Zoom or in-person at the 16 S. Summit Ave. Community Room.
