The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has provided the following brief summary of events regarding a fatal collision that occurred this morning in Poolesville.
Per MCPD: “At approximately 11:27 a.m. today, Montgomery County 1st District officers and Fire Rescue responded to a fatal two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Darnestown Road and Cattail Road. The crash involved a red and black Kenworth tractor-trailer and a gray 2016 Ford Fusion.
The adult male driver of the Fusion was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Fusion was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Darnestown Road is fully closed at Cattail Road while the Collision Reconstruction Unit investigates this collision. A news release will be distributed when more information becomes available, including the name of the decedent, following proper notification of next of kin.”
