Qamaria Yemeni Coffee is set to open its first Maryland location with an upcoming store in Laurel. Though an exact location has not been announced, we’ve been told that it will be near Laurel Regional Hospital (7300 Van Dusen Rd.) with an opening expected by the end of the year.
Qamaria was created when two Yemeni entrepreneurs, Hatem and Munif, with a common upbringing and shared passion for Yemeni Coffee set out to find a way to share it with the world. “After eight years of tirelessly working through the near impossible mission of building a supply chain to source Yemeni coffee beans, the duo successfully achieved this dream.”
Per Qamaria: “Yemen continues to be a country ravaged by an endless war that has devastated its people and economy. Despite this, we are proud to source conflict-free Yemeni coffee. We work with farmers who have continued their prideful harvest of coffee beans despite the difficult circumstances. Our single lot coffee is organically harvested and processed using century-old drying methods.
Once successfully transported, we carefully profile our beans to craft complimentary roast that pays homage to its Yemeni roots. More uniquely, we curate traditional blends to share the various ways in which coffee is prepared differently across the villages of Yemen with you. Discover a unique flavor journey, whether floral, fruity, or nutty.
Qamaria Coffee aims to strengthen economic stability through Yemen’s hard working farmers. We engage in a relationship that generates a multiplier through jobs that support Yemeni families. Qamaria also aims to support the artisans who shine bright in Yemen’s future such as textile makers, architects, painters, poets, pottery makers, and much more.”
