Lawrence Marshall IV, 21, pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Circuit Court to second-degree murder and use of a handgun in the fatal 2023 shooting of his mother’s boyfriend, Cederic Warner, during a dispute in Silver Spring, and faces up to 60 years in prison.
According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, “On July 5, 2023, Marshall became involved in a dispute with Warner, his mother’s boyfriend, at her apartment in the 11000 block of Lockwood Drive in Silver Spring. The argument centered around Marshall’s dog, which was missing. According to witnesses, he blamed Warner for the dog escaping. Marshall shot Warner multiple times with a handgun, killing him.
Assistant State’s Attorneys John Lalos and Gabriel Carrera are handling the prosecution of this matter.”
