The Three Tallest Buildings in Montgomery County

Montgomery County isn’t known for its skyscrapers, and while Baltimore boasts the 23 tallest buildings in Maryland, Montgomery County is home to the 24th and 25th tallest structures in the state. In this article, we examine the three tallest buildings in Montgomery County. Notably, the county’s two highest buildings were constructed within the last five years, surpassing the building now ranked third in height.

3. The Market East Tower (11351 Woodglen Dr. North Bethesda, MD) previously held the title of Montgomery County’s tallest building. Completed in 2010, this residential building stands at 289 feet (88.1 meters) with 24 floors. Located in North Bethesda, it is part of a mixed-use development that includes retail and restaurant spaces, and it was a significant landmark along Rockville Pike for over a decade.

2. The Elm (4710 Elm St. Bethesda, MD), the second-tallest building, is also part of the “Wilson & The Elm” complex and was completed in 2021. This residential tower rises to 331 feet (101 meters) across 29 floors, offering luxury apartments and a range of amenities, including a dramatic skybridge connecting it to The Wilson and providing panoramic views.

1. The Wilson (7272 Wisconsin Ave. Bethesda, MD) stands as the tallest building in Montgomery County, reaching an impressive 341 feet (104 meters) with 25 floors. Completed in 2021, this towering structure is primarily an office building and is a key component of the “Wilson & The Elm” mixed-use development, contributing significantly to Bethesda’s modern skyline.
