Germantown Drug Investigation Leads to Five Arrests, Major Seizure

The Montgomery County Police Department’s (MCPD) 5th District Community Action Team arrested five men and seized drugs, firearms, vehicles, and cash following an investigation into suspected drug activity in Germantown.

According to MCPD, “In fall 2024, DCAT received multiple complaints about suspected drug dealing in the 19500 block of Gunners Branch Road. In response, DCAT, with assistance from the Special Investigations Division and the 5th District Special Assignment Team, launched an investigation.On Wednesday, June 25, police executed three residential search warrants connected to the illegal activity. The searches led to the seizure of:

Four firearms
Distribution quantities of crack cocaine, PCP and MDMA
Approximately $43,000 in U.S. currency
Five vehicles

The following men were arrested and charged with multiple controlled dangerous substances (CDS)-related offenses:

Duane Shelton, 46, Germantown – held without bond
Kevin Patton, 44, Germantown – held without bond
Anre Russell, 39, Takoma Park – held without bond
Michael Marshall, 37, Gaithersburg – released on bond
Alexander Burch, 48, Petersburg, VA – released on his own recognizance

The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy provides grant funding and strategic assistance to MCIN member sites, enabling inter-agency collaboration and data sharing to identify, disrupt and dismantle criminal organizations across Maryland.
