Comprehensive Road Repairs Begin on Democracy Boulevard, Expected to Last 10-12 Weeks

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has initiated a comprehensive road repair project on Democracy Boulevard, stretching from I-270 to Seven Locks Road. The project, aimed at improving infrastructure for residents and motorists, will be executed in two phases and is expected to take approximately 10 to 12 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Phase 1 of the project commenced on June 30, 2025, focusing on concrete repairs. This phase involves necessary repairs to sidewalks, curbs, and gutters. Work during this phase will take place between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Following the completion of Phase 1, Phase 2 is scheduled to begin on July 21, 2025. This phase will involve nighttime mill and overlay work for roadway resurfacing, with work hours set from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Monday through Friday. The nighttime schedule is designed to minimize daytime traffic disruptions.

Throughout the duration of the project, residents and drivers can expect lane shifts and closures. MCDOT advises motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution in the work zone and adhere to posted signage. Parking signs may be posted in advance to facilitate the smooth progress of repairs.

MCDOT expresses gratitude for the community’s cooperation and patience as these essential improvements are made to enhance the County’s infrastructure. The project is anticipated to be completed within 70 days, provided there are no significant weather or operational delays.
