Surprising Twist in Montgomery County Native Anna Wilson’s Audition on America’s Got Talent

Anna Wilson, a Gaithersburg, Maryland native, stepped onto the national stage when she competed on America’s Got Talent  this past Tuesday on NBC. Her performance and surprising twist can be seen below.

A 2022 graduate of Gaithersburg High School, Anna continued her musical journey at Duquesne University’s School of Music in Pittsburgh. Her path to the spotlight took an unexpected turn when her mother secretly signed her up to audition for America’s Got Talent. Anna’s mother got on stage and told the crowd that Anna thought she was there for a VIP experience. Instead, Anna was able to audition…with another twist in the middle of the performance.

America’s Got Talent, which premiered in 2006, showcases performers of all ages in a variety of acts—from singing and dancing to comedy and more. Contestants are judged by a celebrity panel, with viewer voting helping determine who advances in the competition. Current judges are Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, and Mel B.
