A 44-year-old Gaithersburg man died following a medical emergency while on a rental pontoon boat in North Carolina’s Currituck Sound.
According to WITN and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, 44-year-old Scott Matthew Johnson of Gaithersburg was on a rental pontoon boat in Currituck Sound when he experienced a medical emergency while trying to retrieve an anchor that had become tangled in grass and mud. Johnson fell overboard but was wearing a life jacket, which allowed others to pull him back onto the boat where CPR was attempted.
