The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has released additional information regarding a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred on Monday, July 21, 2025 in Germantown.
According to MCPD, “The victim, 71-year-old Mary Elizabeth Moody of Germantown, was killed in the crash.
At approximately 10:35 p.m., 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Great Seneca Highway and Mateny Road for the report of a rollover collision with ejection.
The investigation has revealed that Moody was driving a white 2018 Subaru and was turning left onto eastbound Mateny Road from southbound Great Seneca Highway. A black 2021 Mazda, traveling northbound on Great Seneca Highway, struck the Subaru, causing it to roll and eject Moody.
Despite lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mazda, an adult male, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
This is an active and ongoing investigation, and CRU detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call (240) 773-6620.”
