Viral Food Truck That Draws Lines Down the Block Opens First Brick and Mortar Restaurant

The Flavor Hive, co-founded by social media sensation Shihan Chowdhury (known as “Chilipeppercooks“) and Amgd Gende, has captured the hearts and palates of diners across the DMV area, leading to the soft opening of its first brick and mortar restaurant at 4260 John Marr Dr. in Annandale, VA on Thursday, July 24th. Chowdhury is a local success story, having graduated from Seneca Valley High School in Germantown, MD.

Launched in early 2024, The Flavor Hive quickly gained a loyal following, amplified by Chowdhury’s considerable social media presence. Their unique concept of the “walking taco chips bag” became an instant viral hit, where customers could bring their own bag of chips, from classic Doritos to even salad greens, to be generously filled with savory halal meats, cheeses, and an array of flavorful toppings and sauces. This interactive and customizable approach, coupled with generous portions (often boasting over 12 ounces of meat) and affordable prices, sparked long lines and widespread acclaim.

The soft opening of the Annandale, VA location will be open from 11am until 11pm on Thursday. A second location is in the works in Alexandria, VA (3314 Richmond Highway across from Potomac Yard), which will be designed to be a significant presence, with plans for both indoor dining tables and outdoor seating. According to BizJournals, additional locations are planned for Manassas, and Georgetown with a fifth location in the works.
