ISAAC’s Poultry Market, which won the Restaurant Association of Maryland’s best sandwich category in 2023 for its fried chicken sandwich, recently earned another major accolade: its Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich was named the best chicken sandwich in Maryland by Chowhound.

Isaac’s Poultry Market was founded by Rob Gresham, a lifelong Montgomery County resident and former Director of Operations at CAVA. The first location opened in February 2023 at 12167 Darnestown Road in Gaithersburg, offering roasted chicken, wings, fried chicken sandwiches, salads, and frozen custard.
Gresham came up with the concept during the COVID-19 pandemic while quarantining with his 13-year-old son. The restaurant is named after Sir Isaac Newton, who famously developed the laws of gravity and motion while quarantining during the bubonic plague in 1665. As Gresham puts it: “He invented those things, we invented a chicken restaurant.”
Earlier this year, Isaac’s opened its second location at 15785 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville.
