Community Rallies to Support Ada Villatoro, Beloved Local Restaurateur Battling Stage 4 Breast Cancer

In a display of community solidarity, friends, family, and residents have come together to support Ada Villatoro, raising over $8,000 in just two days through a GoFundMe fundraiser. Ada, a beloved figure in Silver Spring, Maryland, is well-known as the owner of El Golfo Restaurant, a cherished local establishment that has served as a gathering place for nonprofits, artists, musicians, and community members for many years.

Ada immigrated to the Washington, DC area in the mid-1980s, seeking a better life for herself and her family. As a devoted mother of two, she has built a life centered on food, culture, and service, touching the lives of many through her restaurant and community involvement.

In February 2023, Ada received the difficult diagnosis of stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries and ongoing cancer treatments, she has remained resilient, continuing to support her family and remain involved with her restaurant.

However, like many battling cancer in the United States, Ada faces significant medical expenses that are not entirely covered by her health insurance. The mounting costs of treatment, surgeries, medications, and ongoing care have placed a heavy financial burden on her and her family.

In response, Ada’s community has rallied to provide much-needed financial support, helping to alleviate some of the stress associated with her medical bills. Contributions from supporters are directed entirely toward her medical expenses and related needs, allowing Ada to focus on her healing journey.

Those interested in supporting Ada or sharing her story to help spread the word are encouraged to do so through this GoFundMe fundraiser. The collective kindness, generosity, and support of the community are invaluable during this challenging time, offering hope and relief to Ada and her family.
