MoCo Couple Rose & Jessie Named Group Finalist in Variety’s ‘America’s Favorite Couple’ Contest

A Montgomery County, Maryland, couple, Rose and Jessie, has captured the hearts of many and been named a group finalist in Variety’s “America’s Favorite Couple” contest. The duo, both lifelong residents of Montgomery County, are now competing for a grand prize of $20,000 and a feature in the esteemed magazine. You can cast your vote here.

Rose and Jessie’s story is a true testament to local love. Both were born in Montgomery County and have never left. Jessie, who grew up living in several different cities within the county, met her future wife, Rose, at Gaithersburg High School. Rose, who grew up in one of Old Town Gaithersburg’s historic houses, was a sophomore, and Jessie was a freshman.

Their love story began with a seemingly innocent game of pool after school. Jessie, who had never played before, unexpectedly won against Rose, who was known to be an excellent player. Everyone knew Rose had let her win– except for Jessie. This small act of kindness was the beginning of a beautiful love story.

The couple has lived in Germantown for 15 years and has a son who is almost 10. Their roots run deep in the community, with Rose working for the Montgomery County Rec and Aquatic department. Rose’s connection to the community is so strong that her mother is even the godmother of the renowned rapper Logic. “We are ride or die MoCo!” the couple proudly states.

When asked about their favorite memories, Jessie couldn’t pick just one. Her top memories include their first kiss, their two wedding days, a trip to Hawaii, the moment they found out they were having a boy, and the birth of their son. “I can’t imagine any of my happiest or saddest memories without her by my side,” she shared.
If they win the $20,000 prize, Rose and Jessie have a clear plan. They would use the money to make updates and repairs to their “forever home.” As Jessie explained, “It’s the place we have, do, and will make some of our best memories as a couple.”
