Public Invited to Vote on Glenmont Local Park Mural Design

Montgomery Parks is calling on the public to help select a new mural for the park activity building at Glenmont Local Park. From August 4 through August 24, 2025, community members can vote for their favorite design from four mural concepts, selected from a pool of 26 submissions by a panel of arts professionals and community stakeholders.

Images of the four final mural designs are available online and in person at the Wheaton Library, as well as in the lobby of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Headquarters building. Voting is available online through Engage Montgomery Parks, or by U.S. mail and email:

A new public art mural will transform the south façade of the Glenmont Local Park Activity Building—located in the 3200 block of Randolph Road—into a vibrant work of art that reflects the character, culture, and creativity of the surrounding community. Built in 1954 and renovated in 2018, the mid-century modern structure is one of 19 park activity buildings in the Montgomery Parks system and serves as a vital hub for community events.

The mural initiative is made possible by a generous grant from the Montgomery Parks Foundation and is part of Montgomery Parks’ ongoing efforts to incorporate public art into park spaces across the county.

The winning artist will receive up to $30,000 for the final design, creation, and installation of the mural. Installation is expected to be completed by November 2025. An unveiling celebration will be scheduled once the mural is complete.
