ISAAC’s Poultry Market, already recognized by the Restaurant Association of Maryland in 2023 for having the best sandwich, has now received another top honor. Chowhound recently named its Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich the best chicken sandwich in Maryland.
Chowhound praised the sandwich for its winning combination of flavors, describing it as a standout on the East Coast. The sandwich features a fried chicken breast dipped in fresh honey butter, topped with the restaurant’s signature sauce and dill pickles, and served on toasted potato bread.
Founded by Montgomery County native Rob Gresham, former Director of Operations at CAVA, ISAAC’s opened its first location in February 2023 at 12167 Darnestown Road in Gaithersburg. The menu includes roasted chicken, wings, fried chicken sandwiches, salads, and frozen custard.
Gresham developed the concept during the COVID-19 pandemic while quarantining with his 13-year-old son. The restaurant’s name was inspired by Sir Isaac Newton, who made groundbreaking scientific discoveries while isolating during the plague in 1665. “He invented those things, we invented a chicken restaurant,” Gresham said.
Earlier this year, ISAAC’s expanded with a second location at 15785 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville.
