Back in January we let you know that bartaco signed on to open its first Maryland location at 11886 Grand Park Ave. in North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose. After little more than half a year later, there is some movement as construction prepares to begin and a hearing for the restaurant’s liquor license is scheduled for later in the month.
bartaco will be taking over the space that was previously home to Nada, which closed last September after nearly eight years. According to Montgomery County’s Alcoholic Beverage Services (ABS), bartaco will have its hearing for a liquor license on Thursday, August 21st at 10am with construction also set to ramp up based on scaffolding that has gone up at the site. An opening timeframe is still not available for the restaurant.
bartaco has nearby locations in DC (Mt. Vernon and The Wharf) and Virginia (Ballston, Mosaic, Reston). The restaurant is “inspired by the beach culture of brazil, uruguay and southern california. we are upscale street food with a coastal vibe in a relaxed environment. we are freshly-squeezed juices, specialty cocktails and beer out of a bottle. bartaco evokes a visit to a stylish beach resort and creates an unforgettable experience.”
